Our School, Our Curriculum, Our Impact...
At Tanglewood we want our children and their families to walk into school and share the passion that we feel for early education that will create a lifelong love of learning. We want everyone to feel part of a warm, welcoming, supportive community that is safe and nurturing. We want our children to be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
Our goal is to provide a fun, happy, calm, and secure environment where children are challenged to learn, explore, investigate, reflect, and try things out with confidence. We want every child we work with to have the opportunity to be the best they can be and make exceptional progress from their starting points, ensuring that no child or family is left behind.
The Early Years Framework forms the foundations of the curriculum at Tanglewood but the child is the true curriculum and everything we do starts with the child.
Our curriculum is enhanced by highly qualified, skilled and experienced staff, who in their quality interactions, follow the child’s lead and support learning. We use play as a vehicle for learning and follow the principles of the 'In the Moment Planning' approach in our responses. The staff know that every second counts and they are constantly ‘teaching’ and developing children’s ideas using an enriching environment that is accessible for all.
We strive to ensure that all children have access to a curriculum that meets each individual need, we use OP&L (Observation of Play and Learning), Birth to Five Matters and Development Matters to make certain that our pedagogy reflects current research and practice, and supports both staff and families to make a difference and have an impact on every child's outcomes.
“Children learn as they play. More importantly, in play, children learn how to learn”
