Rainbow Room (Speech & Language Centre)

Rainbow Room is our Speech & Language Centre.

We have 16 allocated spaces for Rainbow Room, 8 morning spaces and 8 afternoon spaces. These places are allocated via the Health Service, Provide.   

Please speak to your Speech Therapist to be referred to Rainbow Room, Tanglewood are unable to offer places directly. 

Children in Rainbow room must attend all 5 sessions a week as per the Tanglewood mainstream children.   Sessions are Monday - Friday 9am - 12noon or, Monday - Friday 12.45pm - 3.45pm.  We do offer some extended days using 30 hour funding or they can be paid sessions, please see the information on the parent page of the website. 

The Speech and Language Centre (Rainbow Room) provides intensive speech and language therapy for children having been identified as having severe and specific difficulties in this area of development.

The children who attend Rainbow Room spend the majority of their session in the mainstream classroom (Wonder Room) but have the opportunity to work in small groups individually supported by Speech and Language Therapists and a dedicated Learning Support Assistant. We believe this combination of access to Speech and Language Therapy and the rich learning environment of the mainstream classroom, provides the best opportunity for the children to develop their communication skills.

Teaching is precisely targeted to meet the children's varying needs. This ensures that the needs of children with SEND and those who access the 'Rainbow Room' are catered for extremely well, enabling them to play and learn successfully alongside other children. (Ofsted, Nov 2018)
